Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association August is here and the Roaring Fork finally feels like summer. We hope you are all able to get out and enjoy these long days but please take some time to review the following issues and opportunities. Hidden Gems Wilderness Campaign Update The Hidden Gems Wilderness Campaign is a proposal to greatly expand Wilderness areas in Colorado including our Roaring Fork Valley. Mountain bikes are banned in Wilderness and therefore any areas re-designated will be off limits to to mountain bikers forever. Check out our website for the full Comments and Analysis Maps. Scouting Missions Available! Although we’re nearly finished with our comments on the current Hidden Gems Proposed Wilderness Campaign, we have a number of trails that we’d like input on regarding their value to the mountain bike community. We have prepared maps to help you locate these trails and are requesting any firsthand accounts, gps data, and photos that you can share from your scouting missions. Incidentally, WW is holding a photo contest for these areas; we’ll hold our own contest if we get enough submissions! Check out our website for more information. Please submit any information on the following trails to info@rfmba.org.
BiciPolo Tournament! Set for Saturday, August 15th, 10am, in Carbondale behind Bridges High School. Check out http://www.stomparillaz.blogspot.com for more info. |
